BROWN LEAF
Not a single dry leaf should be burnt in India
Brown Leaf Project
I started this forum in February 2016. Last year, the whole group together saved more than 5000 gunny bags of dry leaves from getting burnt.
Last year, with the help of the municipal worker who sweeps the lane where I reside, I composted around 100 gunny bags of dry leaves.
This experiment provided me confidence that I can compost more quantity of dry leaves this year and help environment in more effective way.
This year I aim to collect all the dry leaves in the street in the lane, compost them and create a good quality compost. This will serve the following objectives:
-
It will reduce the pollution caused by burning
-
It will reduce fire hazard
-
It will provide a good quality compost that can be used for the plants
-
-
Once exhibited successfully this year as a pilot project, I plan to scale this up, reach out and encourage people in other areas and other cities to replicate this model.
